what a horrible experience ,,,,to start the new year .
we only had a small forest fire once years ago but it cut off the one road coming out to the hamptons ,,,nothing like you had to endure but it did focus the mind .
,,,,and it is hear-warming to read how you admire and trust your husband , Brava !

all the best to australia

Having been surrounded and part of evacuations teams, I know what these fires are like. Tornadoes, earthquakes, too much rain....all are bad. But fire is another thing. It scares teh piss out of me.

I am praying for rain or at least lower temps. I hoe all firefighters from this point can stay safe. I hope for less destruction of land , property and both human and wildlife.

Please know you're always in my thoughts and prayers, my friend.

Seeing all the pictures of the fires and the skies down under reminds me that mother nature is definitely a force to be reckoned with. I hope both of you make it through this nightmare unscathed.

Thanks for posting this J. I've been very worried about you and all my other friends all over Australia. I'm relieved that you are safe. I hope that the future that you and your Hubby have sacrificed so much for will be safe as well.

It's more than sobering to think that what you are experiencing is only the beginning of the price that we or our descendants will pay for our unwisdom in failing to act against the change in the climate of this magnificent, fragile blue planet when we still had time. I am reminded of the book by Nevil Shute, On the Beach, about Australia as the last refuge from the nuclear cloud enveloping the earth in the aftermath of nuclear war. Ironically, Australia, and possibly California, may instead be on the front line of the devastating effects of man-made climate change.

It is impossible to imagine what it must be like for the firefighters and those close to them. Beyond the danger the emotional stress must be huge. Sending thoughts and prayers to you all and your beautiful country.

Just seeing all of the destruction on TV brings sadness knowing so many lives....human and animal are affected. I can empathize with the evacuate scenario and my heart goes out to you. Your hubby is brave and I salute all first responders across the world.

Be safe, sweet friend

little brother is a smoke jumper, he jumps into forest fires to fight them.
I've always thought he was a little nuts ever since special forces and jumping out of airplaines but I realized he is one of those hero you read about....

we are all proud of him.

have not seen this on the news, my prayers are with you
