I've been on alt for years, making numerous loops through its rooms and pages, with changing and evolving interests and friendships. I would occasionally meet in person before COVID. One of these became a several-year relationship that ended in disappointment due to distance and logistics. Many of these friendships have been very important to me, and some still are, yet they have been unsustainable for one reason or another.
I spent most of these years as an alt 'Dom.' I mastered the traditional trappings of alt dominance and consistently used Capitals/capitals, demanded my proper form of address, insisted upon various protocols, and had my list of kinks that I plied with all comers.
Then I CAUGHT COVID. This became a battle for my life, and it was and has been a long battle. The virus all but broke me physically and in other ways. I lost my job in the healthcare field, which stressed my finances and affected my family and other friendships and relationships.
At a very low point, I visited a chat room on a whim and met Roomscapegoat. We had an instant rapport and talked about things unrelated to D/s or even sex in general. We formed a friendship quickly, continued our chats privately, and then began to cyber together as equals.
Her long-term background on alt had been as a domme with women, and most of her male relationships were casual and tended to focus on interracial, which is still an interest for her. Yet our relationship grew into mutual caring and support extending to each other's lives. I began to have a partner in all the facets of my life. And then, one day, out of the blue, she submitted to me.
It quickly became evident that the trite forms of alt domination wouldn't work with her. In her domination, she had moved on from those practices, labeling them purely superficial. Specifically unworkable were those expectations of my total control and decision-making regarding what she could or could not do, forcing my specific kinks and controlling all the play. This was undesirable because she had excellent and hot ideas, and the interplay between us was synergistic. The two of us together would approach a 'creative space' that couldn't happen if either one of us was controlling the narrative alone.
And then there is polyamory. We genuinely enjoy each other having sex and relationships with others, both in groups or acting alone with others. She is highly aroused when I am with other women, and I am equally excited when she enjoys other men and women. As her master, and this is how she prefers to address me--I don't require it; I have had to overcome a history of anxieties about trusting in that freedom, especially as I know she doesn't tell me everything. I almost cringe now at what I used to do to 'protect my property' with past subs. I surprise myself now by realizing that that's part of the fun. I have no desire anymore to tame or restrict her wanton sexual nature. It's a thing to be appreciated and encouraged.
